Monson Workshops
Jennie Driscoll (she/her): Layered Light: Cyanotype Explorations (Monson)
Step into the light! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover the magic of the sun-exposed cyanotype process. Using plants, objects, and digital negatives, we will create classic Prussian blue prints and then transform them into layered, mixed-media masterpieces. We’ll explore the versatility of this alternative photo process by toning our prints and adding pops of color, pattern, and texture with various 2D media. Finally, you’ll learn to overlap and assemble your work using collage techniques, including both adhesives and stitching, to create a truly unique composition.

Biography
Jennie Driscoll is a Maine-based artist and educator with 38 years of experience teaching art in both public and private sectors, as well as Adult Education. She holds a BFA in Painting and Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art and an MA in Studio Art from New York University. A National Board Certified Teacher (2014, 2024) and the daughter of a Maine elementary art educator, Jennie is deeply invested in arts education.
In her studio practice, Jennie works across a variety of media to explore the intersections of symbolism, femininity, and memory. Her abstract cold wax and oil paintings use gestural lines to examine visual movement, while her collage, mixed media and cyanotype works often utilize layering and patterns to evoke a sense of nostalgia and time. Her work often explores grace and linear gestures through her subject matter.
A passionate advocate for the arts, Jennie was an active leader in the Maine Arts Leadership Initiative (MALI) and presented at regional and state arts conferences. Her work has been exhibited at the Maine College of Art & Design, the Saco Museum, and at the Curtis Memorial Library. She is an alumna of the Maine Media Workshops, and her writing has been featured in the Maine Arts Journal.
