Maine Region Scholastic Art Awards
Are you a passionate artmaking teen? This is your chance to shine! Share your amazing work by applying to the Scholastic award — which will give you the chance to be considered for two additional honors! Details below:
Scholastic Art & Writing Award
For almost 100 years, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have been celebrating creative students all across the country. This year, Maine College of Art & Design is hosting not just the Scholastic Art Awards, but also two other stellar competitions: the Congressional Art Awards and the Maine Excellence in Arts Education Awards. This means that if you enter your students’ artwork in the Scholastics competition, it may get considered for these other contests, too.
Visit Scholastic’s Art & Writing Award site for all the details. Maine students are invited to submit creative and original work to any of the Awards’ 18 creative categories, including architecture, photography, sculpture, comic art, painting, video game design, fashion, and more.
The judges will be looking for three main things: how original your idea is, how well you made it, and if your own special voice or way of seeing things shines through.
Congressional Art Competition
Every spring, there's a nationwide art contest just for high schoolers. It's a way for our leaders in Congress to encourage young artists from all over the country. They've been doing this since 1982, and hundreds of thousands of students have shown off their amazing talents.
Maine Excellence in Arts Education Awards
This is a special art show just for Maine students who have won awards. Their artwork gets to be displayed at the State Capitol Complex.
Submission Fees
Fees are $10 for Individual submissions and $30 for portfolio entries.
