High School Scholarship
To enter you must be:
a high school senior attending a school in Maine
currently enrolled in a visual arts class
nominated by a teacher who is a current MAEA member
pursuing a degree in fine arts or design
Scholarship Award
$500 - $1,500 will be awarded directly to the student upon receipt of proof of the successful completion of the first semester of post-secondary school. The scholarship shall be forfeited if the above criteria is not met within the first year after graduating from a Maine high school.
Typically one award will be presented each year. However, if the scholarship fund allows, an additional award may be issued to a second qualified candidate.
Application Requirements
Information about classes, grades, community service, activities, awards and/or honors
Plans for pursuing a degree in visual or media arts in college
Letter of recommendation from your nominating art teacher (who must be a current MAEA member) that includes evidence of your strength in academics, character, and accomplishments
Artist Statement that addresses your artwork, motivation, process, and product, and why you wish to pursue a college degree in art (see AI Policy below)
10 images of your best original work, labeled with title, media, and size. At least two of the artworks must be from direct observation
